About the AA car insurance

InsuranceChoices.co.uk is an affiliate of The AA. As the UK’s biggest breakdown organisation, The AA (www.theaa.com) also provide a host of other services. Their car insurance is available as fully Comprehensive, covering all the essentials as well as personal belongings and injury to you and your spouse. They also offer Third Party Fire & Theft and Third Party Only insurance.

They offer a 12.5 per cent discount if you sign up online and 25 per cent off their breakdown cover if you add it to your car insurance online. You will get a courtesy car while yours is being repaired and you can get up to 65 per cent no-claims bonus.

If your car is more than 15 years old they also offer Classic Car Insurance.

What you should know

Reading the terms and conditions doesn’t always have to highlight the negative points of a policy, there can be some positives too.

  • All three levels of cover include travel in Europe, so you’ll still be insured if you go abroad.
  • Emergency treatment resulting from an accident is covered in all levels of insurance, and any claims made for such treatment will not affect your no claims bonus.

Anything else?

The AA works as a brokerage, looking at multiple quotes across the market to find you the best price, rather than underwriting the insurance themselves. This means that you get a competitive price as well as being able to take advantage of online discounts and money off breakdown cover.

They offer customers the option to reduce their premiums by agreeing to a £500 excess, but it is quite high, so think carefully about whether or not that’s too much before agreeing to it.

* Customers who provided a best alternative price on car insurance between 1st January and 1st June 2008 saved on average £208.18.
