Travel insurance from the AA is competitive and provides cover ranging from a single trip to annual cover for those who travel regularly. They offer the option of increasing your cover to include winter sports, golf and weddings.

AA travel insurance offers emergency medical cover, 24-hour assistance and cancellation compensation of up to £5,000 per person and they even have special rates for single parent families.

The AA also offers customers a discount if you sign up online.

What you should know

There are always exclusions and conditions applied to insurance policies, so make sure that you know what they are.

• You won’t be covered for travel to any country against foreign policy advice.
• You only get 17 days winter sports cover with an annual policy. If you need more than this you will have to take out single trip policies to cover yourself. Sub-aqua diving below 30 metres and diving with sharks are not covered.
• If you get injured skiing or snowboarding but haven’t covered yourself specifically for winter sports, you will have to pay your own medical expenses.

Anything else?

The AA works as a brokerage, looking at multiple quotes across the market to find you the best price, rather than underwriting the insurance themselves. This means that you get a competitive price as well as being able to take advantage of their online discount.
